You ask, we answer. See below for our frequently asked questions on lash extensions and maintenance.
Eyelash extensions are an exciting way to lengthen and thicken your natural lashes. By applying synthetic threads to your lashes, we are able to customize the perfect look for you. Each individual extension is applied one millimeter from the lash line to each individual lash. Roughly up to 150 individual lashes can be attached to each lash line, allowing our technicians to build a beautiful customized set of lashes for you!
With proper application, semi-permanent eyelash extensions can be customized to each individual client. Whether your are looking for a dramatic look, a cat eye, or perhaps a more natural appearance, at Lash Up we can truly customize the perfect set of lashes to fit your needs.
All depending on the service, a full set of eyelash extensions will take 90 minutes to complete. Returning clients coming for fills, will take half the time of a full set to complete. Lash extensions are applied while the client is laying down, therefore they will be required to remain still during the application, in this time please enjoy the comfort and luxury of our custom made beds, and have a nap!
Proper maintenance of your lashes is required, therefore clients will be required to return for regular fills every 3 to 4 weeks. A full set of eyelash extensions can last up to 6 weeks.
Yes, but please ensure you do not use oil based mascara or water proof mascara. These types of mascara will cause the bond between your natural lash and the lash extensions to deteriorate, causing the individual lash extensions to fall off. Water based mascara is best to use. Also please ensure you are using oil free makeup remover and other such products, as these products will shorten the life of your lashes.
Yes, but please avoid doing so for the first 24 hours after receiving your beautiful new set of lashes.
Contrary to some popular beliefs, eyelash extensions do not harm your natural lashes in any way. Our certified eyelash technicians are trained to attach the extensions to fully grow eyelashes only. Baby (young) lashes are untouched to ensure that they grow to their full length, so you will never have to be concerned that you won’t have any of your natural lashes left when you get eyelash extensions.
Eyelashes, much like all the hair on the rest of our bodies, have a natural life cycle and will fall out when it’s time. So, if you think that you see more lashes fall out when you get extensions, this is only seemingly so due to the noticeable thickness of the extensions. The rate of eyelash loss would not increase just because you got extensions.
As for the adhesive agent, it is applied directly to the eyelash without touching the skin. Therefore it is a safe procedure that should not irritate your eyelids. The bonding agents used are high-quality adhesives that are suitable for sensitive eyes, however, if there are any specific allergies to ingredients, it is essential to let your eyelash technician know ahead of time.
If you are tired of having to curl your eyelashes and put mascara on every day, eyelash extensions may be an excellent alternative for you to look and feel your best about your eyes. They can look as natural as you’d like with a little volume and length, or as dramatic as you see fit. It is entirely customizable, just make sure to consult with your eyelash extension as to what kind of look you are looking for.
There are three types of eyelash extensions on the market, and pricing depends on the material of the eyelash extension and how much volume you want to get on your eyelashes. You have a choice of either synthetic, silk, or mink eyelash extensions, and lengths can range as well (you just have to consult with your technician).
Mink extensions are generally preferred by clients that want a more natural look. They are also the lightest and softest of the three options, so they do cost more than the other two types eyelash extensions. Synthetic lashes are amongst the most popular of the three because they are pre-curled and provide a more glossy and dramatic look. And lastly, silk lashes are used if clients prefer lashes that are more flexible than synthetic ones, but more cost-effective than mink eyelash extensions.
It’s crucial to take good care of your eyelash extensions to ensure that they last. Make sure that you use oil-free makeup removers and avoid using eyelash curlers. Try not to put water directly on your lashes, and don’t get your lashes wet within the first 24-48 hours upon application. Avoid tanning, steam rooms, saunas, and heat within this time frame as well as the glue needs time to set. And, most importantly, don’t pick, pull, or rub your eyes!
If you take good care of your eyelash extensions, they should last you up to 6 weeks after application. However, with the natural growth and loss of your eyelashes, your eyelashes may not look as full at 6 weeks. For some, this staggering eyelash look may be irritating, especially if you opt for a fuller and more dramatic look. Therefore it’s suggested that our clients return every 2-4 weeks for a touch-up or refill to maintain that full luscious look. Touch-ups are a great way to make your extensions last as long as you continue to fill them.
It is best recommended that you remove any eye maker before an eyelash extension appointment. That way, you won’t have to worry about remover eye-makeup with freshly glued eyelash extensions. It is also recommended that you wash your hair before your arrival so that you don’t have to worry about cleaning your hair and potentially getting your eyelashes wet.
A session should take approximately 90 minutes. However, there may be more extended sessions if our clients prefer to get full volume on their lashes. Refills usually take 45-50 minutes, and it’s a quick process in between the full application services.
Not at all! Most clients describe it as a relaxing session to catch up on their sleep. You will be sitting in the comforts of a spa setting with your eyes closed. Anytime you feel any pain or burning sensations, you should immediately alert your eyelash technician, in case there are any potential allergies to the adhesives used.
The adhesives used are waterproof so swimming, showering, and sweating will not affect the integrity of your eyelash extensions. Having said that, however, it is essential to be very gentle and careful with your extensions while you are doing any of the mentioned activities. Also, it is important to note that these activities should not be done within the first 24 hours of application because the adhesives require time to fully bond to your lashes.
With the voluminous look of eyelash extensions, you most likely will not need to use mascara on them. However, if you prefer to apply mascara for an extra dramatic look, we recommend that you use a water-based mascara. Eye makeup can definitely be applied, but again, be reminded not to use any oil-based makeup removers because they can potentially weaken the adhesives used to bond the eyelashes.
Eyelash extensions are suitable for any age groups and eye types, however, if you have any allergies to lash glues, it is important to notify your technician to avoid potential allergic reactions. If you have any eye conditions or have had any recent operations, it is recommended that you do not get eyelash extensions, or at least to consult with your doctor before you do so. Lastly, if you usually are pretty rough with your eyes, or do not care to follow care instructions, it is also unlikely that eyelash extensions may be suitable for you.

There are a few things to know before you get microblading done! We recommend bringing headphones and wearing something comfortable as your appointment can take a couple of hours.
We have quite a few options that will perfect your brows. We offer microblading, waxing and tinting, and brow lamination!
Both services are a form of cosmetic tattooing and have a lot in common. However, there are a few key differences.
Microblading uses a tool that essentially creates tiny etches in the skin that create realistic looking hair strokes in your brow line. The powder ombre technique looks more like makeup powder rather than individuals hairs. Both techniques can be used to create a range of intensity to suit the client’s style or desired look.
Yes! Brow lamination is a safe technique that is comparable to a perm for your brow hairs. We do recommend taking time in between appointments to allow your brows to rest. A safe chemical solution is used but most clients like to allow their brows to go back to their natural state.
Lash growth serums can be a great way to nourish and protect your existing lashes during or in between fills!
The fun thing about eyelash trends is that although they are always changing, the most popular styles never really go away. Cat-Eye, Doll-Eye, and Classic have been around for ages and most clients tend to have a personal favourite. Take a look to find out a bit more about eyelash extension styles. As always your lash tech is happy to provide a recommendation based on your eye.
A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment best described as a perm for your eyelashes. A lift is essentially what your lash would be doing with a really good mechanical curler, so [giving] a nice shape upward and a realistic curl. If you’re going on vacation or prefer a low-maintenance makeup routine, you can opt for a lash lift and tint to deepen the color of your eyelashes in addition to the more dramatic curve.
