What is the difference between microblading and powder ombre brows?
Both services are a form of cosmetic tattooing and have a lot in common. However, there are a few key differences.
Microblading uses a tool that essentially creates tiny etches in the skin that create realistic looking hair strokes in your brow line. The powder ombre technique looks more like makeup powder rather than individuals hairs. Powdered brows are a great option for clients with oily or more mature skin. Although many clients still prefer powder ombre as it provides a more “filled-in” or “done” look. Both techniques can be used to create a range of intensity to suit the client’s style or desired look.
Which technique is better for oily skin?
For clients with oily skin, microblading strokes may fade faster. If you have oily skin, we recommend powdered brows or a combination brow.
Which is better for people with minimal existing brow hair?
The ideal candidates for powdered brows are those who have hair, but fill in with makeup. If you have thinner brows, microblading might be a better option as we can create hair strokes.
How long does each technique last?
Powdered brows traditionally last for 2-4 years while microblading usually lasts 2-3 years.
If you simply CAN NOT choose between microblading or powder ombre, you may want to opt for a combination of both! For combination brows, microblading strokes are used to create a natural hair look and soft shading is added through the rest of the brow. Strokes are usually drawn around the edges where they’ll be the most visible and then powered ombre is added to the body of the brow to give it a full look that retains a beautiful shape every day.
